Designed for streams up to approximately 6 feet long and 1–2 feet wide, this compact Elite Series kit is a practical choice for garden beds, landscaped slopes and smaller outdoor spaces. It creates the appearance of a natural stream while keeping the circulating water concealed beneath decorative stone.

Is the 14" Cascading Falls Kit Right for Your Space?
This Elite Small kit is suited to a compact waterfall or stream that follows a gentle slope, landscaped grade or constructed series of rock drops. The first waterfall spillway measures 14 inches wide, while the stream can be shaped up to approximately 24 inches wide below the initial drop.
Plan for the Hidden Reservoir
Our installation manual recommends an underground basin excavation approximately 34" long × 30" wide × 25" deep for this specific PB1229 kit.
These are basin excavation recommendations, not the dimensions of the finished waterfall. You will also need room for the stream, cascade box, liner edges and surrounding rockwork.
The 6-foot stream length is a planning maximum, not a guarantee for every landscape. More elevation change, larger drops and the shape of your stream can reduce the length achievable with the included liner.

What's Included in the PB1229 Kit?
This kit provides the main recirculating equipment and installation materials needed to create your pondless waterfall. Decorative stone and site preparation are handled separately so you can customize the finished feature.
Waterfall & Reservoir
- 14" Elite Cascade Falls Box (PB1106) with detachable weir, diffuser mat and landscape lid.
- Small Elite Pump Canyon® (PB1168) to house and protect the submersible pump.
- One Large Basin Matrix (WMLG34) for underground water storage and support beneath the finished gravel bed.

The rubber liner creates the waterproof basin and streambed. The protective underliner helps protect it from ground contact and punctures.

Optional Upgrade: Automatic Water Filling
The Small Pump Canyon has a fitting that can accommodate an automatic refill system. Our Hudson Automatic Water Fill Kit (PB1342) can replace water lost through evaporation.
The auto-fill kit is sold separately. It has a maximum operating water pressure of 30 PSI, and we recommend a compatible pressure regulator when needed.

The listed 2,100 GPH rating is the pump's maximum flow, not the guaranteed flow at the waterfall. Actual flow depends on pumping height, plumbing and installation conditions. Matrix and Pump Canyon capacities describe individual components, not the complete system's usable water volume.
How the Pond-Less Waterfall System Works
A pond-less waterfall creates the appearance of a natural flowing stream without an exposed pond. The system uses a concealed underground reservoir to collect and recirculate water through the waterfall.
Store
Water collects beneath decorative stone in the lined underground basin. The Basin Matrix provides open storage space while supporting the rockwork above.
Circulate
The submersible pump sits inside the Small Pump Canyon, where it remains accessible for cleaning and maintenance.
Create the Waterfall
The pump sends water through the 2-inch flexible hose to the 14-inch Cascade Falls Box at the top of the stream.
Return
Water spills over the waterfall box, travels through the rock-lined stream and returns through the gravel to the hidden reservoir.
Installation Planning
This is a built-in landscape water feature. Installing a pondless waterfall involves excavation, liner placement, plumbing, careful leveling and substantial decorative rockwork. Review the complete installation manual before beginning.
Choose the Location
Select a location where the waterfall can be enjoyed and where water and suitable electrical service are available. Check underground utilities before digging.
Prepare the Reservoir
Mark the recommended basin layout and excavate. Remove sharp roots and stones, then install the protective underliner and rubber liner.
Install Reservoir Components
Assemble the Large Basin Matrix, position the Small Pump Canyon and arrange the components according to the kit's basin layout diagram.
Build the Waterfall
Shape the streambed, position the Cascade Falls Box on a compacted base and connect the pump plumbing. Carefully level the spillway for even water flow.
Install Rockwork
Build the waterfall drops and stream using decorative boulders and gravel. Protect the liner edges and leave access to the Pump Canyon lid.
Fill, Start & Test
Fill the basin, start the pump and check that water stays within the lined stream. Make adjustments before permanently finishing the surrounding landscape.
Installation Tip: Don't Trim the Liner Too Soon
Leave sufficient liner around the reservoir and stream edges so you can make adjustments as the landscape settles. The 10' × 15' liner serves both the reservoir and streambed on this smaller Elite kit.

Waterfall Maintenance & Seasonal Care
Routine Maintenance
A pond-less waterfall requires less routine maintenance than a traditional fish pond, but the system still needs occasional attention.
Periodically remove leaves and other debris from the stream and spillway, check the water level and inspect the pump for reduced flow. The Pump Canyon provides access to the pump without dismantling the entire waterfall.
Water lost through evaporation and splash must be replaced. If maintaining the water level manually is inconvenient, an optional automatic water fill kit may be helpful.
Winter Care
You can shut down the waterfall for freezing weather or, where conditions permit, operate it with careful monitoring. Ice can redirect water outside the lined stream, so running throughout winter requires extra attention.
When shutting down, follow our maintenance guide for pump removal, cleaning and storage. The guide recommends keeping the pump submerged in water in a nonfreezing location and maintaining at least 50% water in the underground basin through winter.
Winter damage is not covered under the applicable warranty. Follow the complete seasonal maintenance instructions for your system.

Component Warranty Coverage
Different components of this kit carry different warranty terms. Our Blue Thumb engineered-plastics lifetime warranty applies to eligible Cascade Falls Boxes and Pump Canyons, subject to the published warranty conditions.
The 2,100 GPH IllumiFlow® pump model referenced by our current component listing carries a 24-month limited pump warranty. Pump coverage depends on the actual pump supplied and its applicable model-specific terms.
These warranties should not be interpreted as a lifetime warranty covering the entire kit. Please review the component warranty document for exclusions, installation requirements and claim conditions.

Will the included pump deliver 2,100 GPH at the top of my waterfall?
Not necessarily. The 2,100 GPH figure is the listed maximum pump flow. Actual water delivery decreases with pumping height and system resistance. Plan your waterfall elevation and plumbing using the applicable pump performance information.
Can I keep fish in this pondless waterfall?
No. This kit creates a waterfall with a concealed reservoir rather than an open fish pond. It is designed for circulating water through a decorative stream, not for housing fish or pond plants that require open water.
How often will I need to add water?
Water loss depends on temperature, wind, splash and the waterfall's design. Check the basin regularly to keep the pump properly submerged. Our optional Hudson Automatic Water Fill Kit can help replace water lost through evaporation.
Can I leave this waterfall running during winter?
Winter operation is possible in some conditions but requires monitoring for ice buildup, redirected water and falling basin levels. For shutdown, follow our seasonal guide for cleaning and storing the pump in a nonfreezing location. Do not completely drain the underground basin for winter.
Does the entire kit have a lifetime warranty?
No. Eligible Blue Thumb Cascade Falls Boxes and Pump Canyons are covered by our lifetime engineered-plastics warranty, subject to its terms.
