Plan the installation before delivery
Installation Overview
This is a substantial built-in landscape fountain. The sequence below is for project planning; follow the official vase, basin, pump and lighting instructions for complete assembly requirements.
Choose and Mark the Site
Select the primary viewing angle and confirm adequate space for the 52.5-inch-square basin, splash return area and installation access. Locate utilities before excavation.
Prepare the Excavation
The Altum guide calls for an excavation slightly wider than the basin and approximately 21 inches deep. Remove sharp rocks and roots, then compact and level the base.
Set and Level the Basin
Install the reservoir on the fully supported base. Confirm that the basin and grate system are level before placing the vases or adding decorative stone.
Position the Vases
Arrange the three heights for the intended viewing angle. Plan enough qualified help and suitable lifting equipment; individual vase weights are not listed.
Connect and Test
Connect each pump, tubing assembly, flow control, lighting and auto-fill equipment according to the manuals. Fill the reservoir and verify that every pump remains submerged.
Finish the Surface
After checking flow, drainage and water level, position the splash apron and cover the basin area with the eight bags of selected polished pebbles while preserving service access.
Protect the system and its water flow
Routine Care and Cold-Weather Preparation
During the Season
Check the operating water level regularly even when the auto-fill valve is connected. Remove leaves and debris, keep the pump intakes and foam pre-filters clear, and never allow a pump to run dry.
Spring and Fall Cleaning
Drain and replace the basin water during seasonal cleaning. Remove accumulated debris with a wet vacuum when needed, rinse the splash apron and use fountain treatments only as directed.
Before Freezing Weather
Stop the fountain, remove and clean the pumps, and store them where they cannot freeze. Do not allow water to remain inside the ceramic vases and freeze. Move the vases indoors when practical or protect them as directed in the vase manual.
Electrical and pump safety: Connect each three-prong pump plug only to a dry, flood-protected GFCI outlet that matches the equipment nameplate. Unplug all equipment before servicing. Never lift a pump by its cord, cut the cord, direct-wire the pump or operate it without water.

Is this a complete fountain kit?
Yes. It includes the three listed ceramic Tuscany vases, the 52" Altum AquaBox® reservoir, three Mag-Drive pumps, plumbing and flow control, standpipe-mounted LED plume lighting, an automatic fill valve, fountain water treatment, a splash apron and eight bags of your selected polished pebbles.
Does the fountain require an open pond?
No. Water returns through the finished pebble area to the concealed 220-gallon basin and is recirculated through the three vases by the included pumps.
How much installation space should I plan for?
The buried basin measures 52.5 inches square by 20 inches high. Allow additional room for excavation, the included splash apron, utility access, pump servicing and the surrounding landscape finish.
Can I choose the polished-pebble color?
Yes. Select Black Pebbles or Mixed Pebbles when ordering. The kit includes eight 40-pound bags, for 320 pounds total.
Are the pumps and lighting included?
Yes. The kit includes 1,495, 1,300 and 1,110 GPH Mag-Drive pumps plus standpipe-mounted LED plume lighting. The individual flow controls help balance the three water displays.
Does the auto-fill valve eliminate water-level checks?
No. The included auto-fill valve can help replace water lost to splash and evaporation when properly connected, but the reservoir, valve and pump submersion should still be checked regularly.
What maintenance does the fountain require?
Keep the reservoir at the correct operating level, remove debris, clean the pump pre-filters and impellers as needed, inspect the plumbing and use fountain water treatments according to their labels. Preserve clear access to the basin’s pump opening.
How should the fountain be protected during winter?
Before freezing conditions, unplug, remove and clean the pumps, then store them where they cannot freeze. Drain all exposed water from the ceramic vases and move the vases indoors when practical. If they cannot be moved, protect them according to the ceramic vase manual and prevent water from collecting inside or beneath the cover.
