Before You Order: This Is the Filter, Not a Complete Pond Kit
Choose this model when the pond is no larger than 2,500 gallons and the pump will deliver no more than 5,000 GPH at the installed head height. Plan the complete circulation system before installation.
- A pond pump, skimmer or other effective prefilter, 2-inch flexible PVC pipe, liner and electrical service are not included.
- BioBalls biological media are sold separately. Aquascape recommends 200 BioBalls for the 2500 model.
- Fish-safe silicone, thread sealant, flexible-PVC cement, waterfall foam and most installation tools are not included.
- Natural boulders, gravel, aquatic plants, excavation, site preparation and installation labor are not included.

Installation planning
A Realistic Installation Sequence
This is a landscape and plumbing installation. Read the complete manual before digging, cutting liner or gluing pipe.
Choose the Location
Place the BioFalls near the pond edge with the spillway facing the primary viewing area. When used with a skimmer, position it across the pond when practical to support circulation.
Prepare and Level the Base
Excavate to a firm, compacted foundation. Set the housing level from side to side and with the slight forward pitch specified in the manual, then install the rack and rock tray before backfilling.
Configure the Plumbing
Use one bulkhead for a single pump and plug the second port or connect the optional drain kit. The two ports can also accept separate pump lines. Use products rated for flexible PVC and allow joints to cure as directed.
Attach Liner and Spillway
Choose the inward or outward lip orientation, clean and dry the mating surfaces, leave slack in the liner and seal the opening with fish-safe silicone. The manual requires at least one hour of cure time before adding water.
Install Media and Rockwork
Place the mats on the support rack and fill the supplied media net with separately purchased biological media. Build the waterfall and conceal the upper tray without blocking service access.
Run, Inspect and Finish
Start the pump, check every connection and confirm that water covers the spillway. Adjust stone and foam to direct the flow. Do not trim excess liner until the system is running without leaks.

Protect the Biological Filter
Use a Prefilter
A properly sized skimmer or other prefilter keeps large debris from loading the BioFalls. Aquascape bases its once-a-year cleaning guidance on the filter being used with an effective prefilter.
Clean Conservatively
Do not clean the mats or media bag more than once per year. Avoid chlorinated tap water on biological media because it can reduce or kill the beneficial bacteria colony.
Plan for Freezing Weather
Drain and winterize plumbing, pumps, check valves and other water-holding components when required by your climate. Improper winterization can void applicable warranty coverage.

Is this a complete pond kit?
No. This listing is for the Signature Series 2500 BioFalls® filter and its listed internal, spillway and plumbing parts. The pump, skimmer or prefilter, pipe, pond liner, BioBalls, sealants, natural stone and other pond-building materials are sold separately.
What pond size and flow can the 2500 BioFalls handle?
Aquascape rates it for ponds up to 2,500 gallons and pump flow up to 5,000 GPH. Use the pump's flow at the actual installed head height, not its zero-head maximum, when checking the match.
Are BioBalls included?
No. A biological filter media net is included, but BioBalls are sold separately. Aquascape recommends 200 BioBalls for the Signature Series 2500.
Can I use both 2-inch bulkhead ports?
Yes. The two ports support several configurations: one pump line with the unused port plugged, one pump line plus the optional drain kit, or two separate pump lines. Follow the manual for fitting orientation, sealing and pipe connections.
What does the reversible spillway lip change?
An outward-facing lip creates a defined ledge and is Aquascape's recommended orientation for first-time installers. An inward-facing lip leaves a flatter front face for more flexible boulder placement. The 2500 also includes a faux waterfall stone for the outward orientation.
How often should I clean the filter mats?
Aquascape specifies no more than once-a-year cleaning when the BioFalls is paired with a Signature Series skimmer or another effective prefilter. Avoid chlorinated tap water on the biological surfaces, and replace mats when they begin to tear or deteriorate.
Can this be added to an existing pond?
Yes, if the pond volume, pump flow and site support the 2500 model. Aquascape's manual advises planning an extra liner section of approximately 4 feet by 6 feet so the BioFalls lip can overlap the pond correctly.
What warranty applies?
Aquascape provides a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on the BioFalls filter housing when properly installed and maintained. Plastic internal parts carry a one-year warranty. Filter pads and media are consumable items and are not covered. Proof of purchase is required, and the manual contains the complete terms and exclusions.
