IllumiFlow® pumps combine direct-drive flow capability with magnetic-drive efficiency for clear, filtered freshwater systems. Choose from 2,100 to 7,800 GPH for pond filtration, waterfalls, streams and water features, then match your model to the flow your project needs at its actual pumping height.
2,100–7,800 GPHFive maximum-flow options
Up to 28.5 ft.Maximum head by model
25 ft.Power cord on every model
1 in.–1.5 in.Outlet fitting included
24 monthsLimited pump warranty
Built for flexible water-feature layouts
Strong flow with model-specific efficiency
The hybrid direct-drive/magnetic-drive design delivers substantial circulation while keeping power requirements transparent: every model’s watts and amperage are listed below.
Horizontal or vertical operation
The low-profile housing can be positioned horizontally or vertically in a pond skimmer or directly in a pond, giving installers more flexibility in tight equipment areas.
Water-cooled and oil-free
Thermal overload protection automatically stops the motor if it overheats. A removable screened intake helps keep larger debris away from the impeller and simplifies routine inspection.
Every model has a 25-foot cord and a 1-inch to 1.5-inch outlet fitting. *Wattage varies with head pressure. Maximum head is the shutoff point, not usable delivered flow.
Plan, install and care for the pump
Confirm flow at head
Size the pump for required delivered flow after accounting for vertical lift and plumbing resistance. Confirm that the receiving basin, skimmer, filter and waterfall can handle that flow.
Choose a protected location
Install in a skimmer or directly in the pond, horizontally or vertically. Keep the intake away from gravel and heavy debris, and do not place the pump where it could drain the pond.
Connect the plumbing
Match tubing and fittings to the selected outlet and required flow. A non-submersed installation is permitted only as a flooded-suction setup—not a suction-lift setup.
Power it safely
Use a dry, flood-protected GFCI outlet and verify that supply voltage and frequency match the pump nameplate. Never cut off the plug or direct-wire the cord.
Keep it wet and clear
The pump must remain submerged while operating unless correctly installed in flooded-suction mode. Inspect the screened intake regularly and disconnect power before cleaning or handling.
Prevent freeze damage
Cold-weather operation is possible only when the housing and plumbing cannot freeze. If ice could form around the pump, remove it, empty it and store it where it will not freeze.

Need help matching flow to your project?
Blue Thumb’s Sales and Technical Team can help review pumping height, plumbing run, target flow and system compatibility before you order.
This listing includes one selected IllumiFlow® pump with its removable screened intake, 1-inch to 1.5-inch outlet fitting and 25-foot power cord. Tubing, valves, filtration, a basin or pump vault, waterfall parts and other system components are not included with this pump listing. Those components may be included when an IllumiFlow pump is purchased as part of a larger Blue Thumb kit.
Which IllumiFlow model should I choose?
Choose the model that delivers your required flow at the project’s total head—not the model with the nearest maximum-flow number. Use the 5-foot and 10-foot values, the flow curve in the gallery and the complete plumbing plan. Blue Thumb can help when the layout falls between published points.
Can the pump run horizontally or vertically?
Yes. Blue Thumb approves horizontal or vertical placement in a pond skimmer or directly in a pond. Keep the intake accessible, clear of gravel and debris, and positioned so a plumbing failure cannot unintentionally drain the pond.
Can IllumiFlow pumps be installed outside the water?
The owner’s manual permits a non-submersed installation only with a flooded-suction arrangement. The pump is not designed for suction lift. Follow the official manual and ask Blue Thumb to review the plan if the pump will not be submerged.
Will the pump deliver its listed maximum flow in my system?
Usually not. Maximum flow is measured at minimal head. Delivered flow decreases as pumping height and plumbing resistance increase. The model table gives verified flow at 5 feet and 10 feet to support a more realistic comparison.
What water can the pump handle?
IllumiFlow pumps are intended for clear, filtered freshwater at no more than 95°F. The manual excludes salty water, sewage, flammable, corrosive or explosive liquids, grease, oils and foodstuffs.
Can the pump run dry?
No. Running dry can overheat and damage the pump and will void the warranty. Maintain adequate water level and correct the cause if the thermal overload device stops the motor.
What electrical connection is required?
Use a GFCI-protected outlet in a dry location protected from flooding. Match voltage and frequency to the pump nameplate. Do not remove the plug or direct-wire the cord.
What warranty applies?
Blue Thumb provides a 24-month limited warranty from the original purchaser’s purchase date. The owner’s manual requires registration within 60 days and proof of purchase; proper installation and operation are also conditions of coverage. Review the manual and current warranty information for complete terms.
