Water rises through the drilled column and flows over its surface, creating an attractive garden focal point. The kit includes a concealed 2x2 fountain reservoir, recirculating pump, plumbing and your choice of polished pebbles.

Basalt is a dense volcanic stone formed as lava cools. Under certain geological conditions, it develops distinctive column-like formations.
Our Rustic Basalt Fountains preserve the natural character of these stone columns. Their exterior surfaces may feature weathered mineral coloration, irregular texture and subtle variations in shape.
Because these are genuine stone columns rather than manufactured replicas, variations in color, surface texture and overall appearance are expected.

Planning Your Basalt Fountain Installation
A successful real-stone fountain installation begins with a stable, level reservoir and a location that accommodates the fountain's water movement.
Plan your site before excavation, including electrical access, basin placement and the handling of the natural stone column.

Choose the Location
Select a location with enough room for the 25-inch-square reservoir, decorative stone and expected water splash.
Plan access to a grounded, outdoor GFCI-protected electrical outlet. Locate underground utilities before excavation.

Prepare & Level the Basin
Excavate for the 2x2 basin and prepare a firm, level foundation.
The basin installation guidance calls for positioning the top edge approximately 1 inch above finished grade.
In unstable soil, additional excavation and a compacted crushed-rock base may be necessary.

Install the Pump & Stone
Position the pump inside the basin, route the tubing and connect the fountain plumbing.
Carefully position the basalt column on its supported base. Use appropriate handling assistance for the natural stone.
Avoid placing stress on the plumbing connections.

Fill, Test & Finish
Fill the reservoir before starting the pump. Adjust the ball valve until the desired water movement is achieved.
Confirm that water returns to the reservoir without excessive splash.
Finish the surface with the included polished pebbles, keeping pump access available.
Important: Basin Support & Stone Weight
The included 2x2 basin has a maximum static-load rating of 250 lbs.
Proper support and load distribution are important when installing natural stone. Individual basalt columns vary in weight and shape.
Confirm the supplied stone's handling and support requirements before installation. Our Sales/Tech Team can help with basin-support questions.
Care, Maintenance & Seasonal Protection
Maintain Water Levels
Water is naturally lost through evaporation and splash. Check the reservoir regularly and replenish it as needed.
Never allow the pump to run dry.
Keep the Pump Clean
Inspect the pump pre-filter and remove accumulated debris. Periodically clean the pump and impeller according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Keep excessive soil, mulch and organic debris away from the basin screen.
Prepare for Freezing Weather
In freezing climates, disconnect and remove the pump for winter.
Store the pump submerged in water where it cannot freeze, following the applicable pump instructions.
Follow the basin's seasonal-care guidance. Do not completely empty the buried reservoir unless the applicable instructions direct you to.
