Evolution Aqua Pond UV Clarification

Control Green Water with the Right evoUV for Your Pond

Evolution Aqua evoUV pond clarifiers expose circulating pond water to ultraviolet light to help control the single-celled algae responsible for green water. Five wattages are available here, allowing you to match the UV to your pond volume, flow rate and operating conditions rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all unit.

15–110 Watts Five selectable models
Up to 19,500 gal. Maximum rated pond volume
Up to 6,000 GPH Maximum rated flow
2-Year Guarantee Manufacturer guarantee; exclusions apply

What an evoUV Does for Your Pond

Targets Green Water

UV clarification is designed specifically to address suspended, single-celled algae that can turn otherwise healthy-looking pond water green and reduce visibility.

Works with Your Filtration System

The evoUV operates in the pond's circulating water line and can work alongside many filtration systems. Proper pump flow and filtration remain important parts of the overall pond system.

Designed to Be Serviceable

Evolution Aqua designed the evoUV range so routine service items—including the UV bulb and quartz sleeve—can be accessed for maintenance and replacement.

Choosing the Right evoUV Is About More Than Pond Gallons

Start with pond volume, but also consider fish stocking, sun exposure and actual water flow through the UV. Evolution Aqua recommends circulating the entire pond volume through the evoUV approximately once every 2–3 hours for optimum performance. A heavily stocked pond or one exposed to substantial sunlight may require a larger UV than pond volume alone suggests.

Compare evoUV Models

Select from the five evoUV models currently offered on this Blue Thumb product page. The optimum flow is the preferred operating target; maximum flow is the upper manufacturer-rated flow for the unit.

Before You Order: Check Your Actual Pump Flow

Do not size the UV from the pump's nameplate flow alone. Plumbing length, elevation and fittings can reduce the actual flow reaching the unit. Your operating flow should remain within the selected evoUV's rating, while providing enough circulation to move the pond volume through the UV on an appropriate turnover schedule.

How the evoUV Fits into Your Pond System

Size the UV

Match the evoUV to pond volume, actual flow, fish load and sunlight conditions. When conditions are demanding, avoid choosing solely by the maximum pond-volume figure.

Plan the Plumbing

The evoUV installs in the circulating water line and can be connected using suitable flexible hose or hard pipe. Verify the connection size for your selected model before purchasing plumbing components.

Mount & Water-Test

Follow the manufacturer's required mounting orientation. Install the quartz sleeve and seals correctly, then water-test the unit for leaks before completing the electrical setup and installing the UV bulb as directed.

Connect Power Safely

Follow the current evoUV installation manual and applicable electrical requirements. Never operate or service the UV with wet electrical connections.

Operate with Proper Flow

Keep water moving through the unit within the specified operating range. Evolution Aqua recommends passing the entire pond volume through the evoUV approximately every 2–3 hours for optimum performance.

Maintain the UV

UV output and light transmission matter. Inspect and service the bulb, quartz sleeve and seals according to the manufacturer's instructions to maintain effective operation.

What You Need to Know About UV Clarification

  • It targets suspended green-water algae. A UV clarifier is not a substitute for mechanical or biological pond filtration.
  • Flow rate matters. Water passing too quickly through the unit can reduce UV exposure.
  • The quartz sleeve must stay clean. Deposits on the sleeve can reduce the amount of UV reaching the water.
  • The UV bulb is a service item. A bulb can continue to illuminate even after its useful UV output has declined, so follow the manufacturer's replacement schedule rather than judging only by visible light.
  • Always disconnect electrical power before servicing. Follow the manufacturer's safety and maintenance instructions when accessing the bulb or quartz sleeve.

Need Help Choosing an evoUV?

Pond volume is only part of UV sizing. If you're unsure which model fits your pond, have your approximate pond volume and pump or actual circulation rate ready and the Blue Thumb Sales/Tech Team can help you compare the options.

Frequently Asked Questions

What problem does an evoUV pond clarifier solve?

The evoUV is designed to control the single-celled suspended algae responsible for green pond water. It works as part of the pond's circulating filtration system.

Which evoUV size should I choose?

Use pond volume as the starting point, then consider actual flow through the UV, fish stocking and sun exposure. Heavily stocked or sunny ponds can require more UV capacity than a lightly stocked shaded pond of the same volume.

Should I use the optimum or maximum flow rate?

The optimum-flow figure is the better target when planning the system. The maximum-flow figure represents the upper rated flow through that model and should not be exceeded.

Does an evoUV replace my pond filter?

No. The evoUV is a UV clarifier, not a complete mechanical and biological filtration system. It is designed to operate alongside pond filtration.

Do the evoUV models use the same plumbing size?

No. The evo15, evo25, evo30 and evo55 use 1½" inlet/outlet connections. The evo110 uses 2" connections. The four smaller models include threaded hosetails; connection fittings are not supplied with the evo110.

Does the evo110 use a 110-watt bulb?

No. The evo110 provides 110 watts of UV power using two 55-watt T8 UV bulbs.

Why does the quartz sleeve need cleaning?

The UV bulb sits inside a quartz sleeve that allows UV light to reach the passing water while protecting the lamp. Deposits on the sleeve can reduce light transmission, so the sleeve should be inspected and cleaned as described in the manufacturer's maintenance instructions.

Does a glowing UV bulb mean it is still working at full strength?

Not necessarily. A UV lamp can continue to produce visible light even as effective UV output declines. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance and bulb-replacement guidance rather than relying only on whether the lamp appears illuminated.

What is the evoUV warranty?

Evolution Aqua provides a 2-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The UV bulb and quartz sleeve are excluded, and the manufacturer's terms, maintenance requirements and exclusions apply.
